SENIOR BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT EXECUTIVE – FACADES & ARCHITECTURAL SOLUTIONS

I’m looking for a genuine door opener within the Indian facade market.

Not somebody who wants to sit behind a team.

Not somebody selling generic construction commodities.

And you don’t have to already know composites.

What matters is that you know facades.

You understand how an architectural project moves from concept and specification through to contractor and construction, and you already know the people involved.

We’re supporting an international manufacturer launching and developing its architectural composite solutions across India and need somebody locally who can build that market.

Your network should ideally include:

• Architects
• Facade designers and consultants
• Developers
• Facade manufacturers/contractors
• Main contractors
• Specialist subcontractors

If your background is selling glass, aluminium, glazing, cladding, building envelope or other facade systems, that’s particularly interesting.

The product may be different, but many of the people you’re speaking to will be exactly the same.

What will you actually do?

You’ll identify projects early, get in front of the people influencing the design and introduce a composite/FRP solution before the facade specification is locked down.

That means researching the market, making calls, using your existing network, building new relationships, arranging meetings and travelling to where the opportunities are.

India is huge, so we need somebody who can plan their activity intelligently rather than simply jumping on planes and hoping to find business.

During the first few months, you’ll learn the manufacturing processes and technical capabilities and start developing the market primarily through calls, email and networking.

Once established, expect substantial travel across India for architect meetings, developer meetings, contractor meetings and project visits.

We’re looking for someone who:

• Has strong commercial experience within architectural facades
• Already understands the Indian market
• Has a genuine industry network
• Is comfortable generating their own opportunities
• Can communicate with both design and commercial stakeholders
• Is self-sufficient, proactive and commercially curious
• Enjoys building something rather than simply maintaining existing accounts

Around 5–8 years’ experience would probably sit well, but we’re far more interested in who you know, what you’ve sold and how effectively you can develop relationships.

This is a newly created position with real scope to shape how the architectural business develops in India.
